"Missing While Haunted" was written by Nikita DeMare and directed by Kristin Windell

The team at M&A attribute Gabi with saving all of their lives. They trusted her completely. That was broken with the revelation that she kept Sir in her basement. It shattered their perception of her. She was incredibly broken too. It takes time for each of them to be willing to work alongside her. Things haven't changed that much. The M&A family still solves cases. Their struggles are more intense. Margaret's vision is compromised when she's around Gabi. Zeke's home was invaded and his technology was seized. Lacey was taken by Sir again. Throughout it all, they've tried to rely on these relationships once more. They depend on each other. That codependency isn't always healthy. They lean on it at the expense of other relationships. Ethan was furious when he realized Dhan prioritizes work above their marriage. He was the last to know about Dhan's complicity in Sir's abduction. And now, Dhan says that these relationships are the only reason he keeps living. Everyone needs purpose. They can't succumb to the pain they continually carry. It's overwhelming and always present though. That's difficult to navigate. They are guided by others who understand. They save lives. They reach out with empathy no matter what. And yet, these relationships are still dysfunctional. They place so much of their own worth on how others are doing at any given moment.

Zeke was reckless by hacking into the DC police. Trent believes he protected Zeke by allowing him to stay at home. He doesn't want to trigger his agoraphobia. He respects him. He knows what he needs. And yet, Zeke still committed a crime. It requires punishment. He's not suppose to have the means to hack into the precinct again. Zeke feels the temptation. He has to act. He must retrieve the letter from Sir that the police intercepted. Once Gabi reads it, she knows precisely where to find her kidnapper. She prepares for a confrontation. She leads with strength. She's ready for a fight. This is a battle. Sir has plans for every member of the M&A team. Zeke resisted Sir's prior offer. He didn't need Sir's help in the previous case. Sir's presence still looms large. Zeke's hatred for Sir overpowers his terror of the outside world. He steps outside as a result. Fear isn't the only motivator for progress. Lacey helped Zeke reconnect with joy too. Sir's methods aren't the only way to be successful. It's how Sir perceives the benefits he offers. He teases every member of the team. He requires action. He lurks in mystery for now. He can strike at any moment. Gabi and Lacey know how to live in that constant terror. They take action to prepare for it. They won't be defenseless. Yet that's only part of the struggle.

Sir is a monster. He always has easy access to the lives of those he targets. That's been true for decades. Gabi believes she knows him better than anyone else. She was stunned by the reveal he has a partner. No progress is made in that mystery. The severity of the threat from Sir alone is great. Even when Gabi and Lacey tried to relax into normal lives again, Sir was always near. He had to choose when to act. His victims are never safe. That's paralyzing. Again, the fear doesn't define them. They are capable of pursuing their own agency. Sometimes though, the fear and terror consume everything. That's been true of Alice's life ever since her father died. She witnessed it. She created a fanciful story to personify the monster. It made it easier to reckon with. It was a symptom of mental illness. She was capable of leading a fulfilling life. She cared for her daughter. She was always afraid the monster that killed her father would eventually find her too. A psychotic break triggers her to run. Stevie knows to contact Gabi. She can be trusted. She has the right perspective to approach the situation. At Trent's press conference, he doesn't speak with any compassion. Instead, it's the same words always used. He believes he is acting responsibly. Gabi's appeal allows the truth to be revealed. She knows how to handle this situation. She can't trust Trent right now. She needs his help. Zeke looks out for him too. These dynamics are complicated. Yet everyone is better off because of these relationships. That's what makes the dependency so addictive.

Everyone knows Margaret's struggles. They've done their best to help. She continues to spiral. She questioned herself at work. She had to prove she could still do this job without Gabi. That wasn't enough. The pain of losing Jaime remains unbearable. She has never forgotten the day he went missing. She has forever been stuck in that moment. She wants to repress the pain. That's impossible. She blames herself. She wanted five minutes of peace. She was overwhelmed. She was tired and couldn't handle her son's energy. He was too much. Life feels empty without him. His absence is devastating. Margaret doesn't know how to keep on living. She wants to embrace the happiness again. She walks away from the people who care about her. They didn't realize the importance of this day. It's Jaime's birthday. Everyone got caught up in other things. Taylor wanted to be with her mother again. Margaret just couldn't bear it. She ran away. She was eventually found. She will receive the help she needs. She may never be healed entirely until she receives clarity about what happened to her son. Sir believes fixing the members of the M&A team will force Gabi into viewing him as her soulmate. He desires that above all else. Gabi wants to be there for Margaret in her time of need. She respects Margaret's pleas to stay away. It hurts. This team needs each other. They are capable of juggling so much. Yet they break down over the thought of losing anyone. They can't survive if something happens. They've dealt with too much pain already. And so, they have to lean on these relationships. It's the only way to survive. It brings all of them closer together. They are known and accepted. That's difficult to achieve. It's incredibly gratifying when it occurs. It requires a shift of perspective. That makes everything feel whole despite the complexities and the losses along the way.
