Gabi is determined to go after Sir by herself. Her allies are willing to help her. She refuses to share what she's doing. She doesn't want anyone to get hurt. Sir invades all of their lives. He's not limiting his actions to Gabi. He strives to influence the lives of everyone at M&A. He believes fixing their problems will endear himself in Gabi's eyes. He understands that the only way he can achieve his dream is if she comes to him willingly. Gabi will always see him as a monster. When she hears his voice, she arms herself. The police intercepted a letter. Gabi solved the mystery before Trent could. She was never meant to do so. Sir was delivering a message to Trent. He wanted the detective to know he had incriminating evidence against his father. He aims to leverage that against Trent to force him to drop the case against Gabi. He believes he is helping her. He doesn't blame her for imprisoning him in her basement. Trent needs accountability for that action. He's willing to hold Gabi in the precinct despite not having the evidence to arrest her. He believes that's the only way to control her. He can't be honest about the case they are working on. His scheme fails. He's always right to be angry with Gabi about trying to handle Sir by herself. She has a trusted team. She relies on them to do her job. She also wants to preserve them because the work at M&A is too important.

Sir is working with someone though. Gabi was surprised by that reveal. It's more harmful when she's knocked unconscious by the individual. Sir wanted to protect her. As such, he knew what the response from his partner would be. Of course, the audience isn't operating with much information in that regard. That has become the new mystery of the season. Right now, Christian presents as the only viable suspect. However, it feels like an obvious red herring. Gabi and Trent can't get in contact with him. That's suddenly damning. Gabi never saw the face of the person who attacked her. Sir's evidence was gone by the time Trent arrived. It's an agonizingly slow buildup. The reveal will have to be meaningful. It seems unlikely given how few viable options there are. It will hopefully detail something new within Sir. That can only arrive once the information is out in the open. At the moment, the characters have much bigger concerns. Dhan is shot outside the courthouse while a gun goes off while Sir confronts Trent at his home. Everything is deeply personal for Gabi. She's present for both events. She's at the center of it all. Yet she isn't the one putting these plots into motion. In fact, the narrative invites the chaos in order to keep all of the characters busy.
A lot is happening. The story feels the burden to juggle a case-of-the-week, flashbacks to Gabi and Bella, personal drama for everyone in the present and mysteries surrounding Sir. Gabi has an idea about where Sir has been hiding. No one is given time to process it. Similarly, it's moving to hear Dhan speak about his evolution on how he views addiction. Eileen came to M&A because of Gabi's empathy. She knew she would be respected and treated fairly. Instead, she was greeted by Dhan who still wears his discomfort all over his face. That results in her continually having to justify herself. Life doesn't need to make sense. She declares that several times. She needs to convince people. That's the only way they can care about Ian. The team uncovers the secrets he was keeping from her. He's still trying to do what's right. The truth lies within his criminal record. After those details are unearthed, it's easy to understand what he's doing and why he requires protection. It's a case built around miscommunication. That's the discontent between Eileen and Ian as well as the overall vibe amongst the M&A team. They work these cases together. They are willing to drop everything. They don't have healthy boundaries. They have to be pushed into prioritizing other aspects of their lives. That's important. Yet it still needs to be reinforced over and over again.
The police were protecting Ian ahead of his testimony before a grand jury. He was a witness to a murder while in jail. That resulted in his early release. His life changed after he met Eileen. He still relapsed. He wants to do better especially as they are trying to get pregnant. Gabi offers support. He doesn't have to do this alone. The case reaches this resolution rather early. Even before then, it was spinning its wheels trying to find relevant information. Enough time was remaining for plenty of twists to occur. It's unclear if Dhan was shot because of the people targeting Ian for retribution. The case is present when that action takes place. It seems like the sensible theory. The viewer can never rule out Sir though. He repeatedly does extreme things. He believes they will offer a greater good. Dhan's life hanging in the balance forces Ethan to confront Gabi. He doesn't want her in the waiting area. He needs this moment to grieve and worry by himself. That can't be taken from him. He has given too much away already. It's a selfish ask. It's understandable given the drama that has occurred recently. Work is the sole obstacle within Dhan and Ethan's marriage. Their bond is strong when it's just the two of them. Pressure is introduced once Dhan's devotion to Gabi comes into focus. That may have ultimately been fatal. That's the uncertainty as the hour closes. Yet it also seems unlikely that two major characters will be killed off at this point in the season. Plus, these characters typically heal quickly from injuries they sustain. Everything is left unclear. As such, expectations are set high for the drama to justify these actions. Otherwise, it will feel like a waste of time spent torturing the characters.
