M&A races against the clock to search for a missing Black, non-neurotypical boy before he suffers from an emotional breakdown. The cat-and-mouse game between Sir and Gabi comes to a head. Margaret is approached by a familiar face.
"Missing While Misunderstood" was written by Nkechi Okoro Carroll and directed by David McWhirter
Sir hides within the M&A offices. Gabi notices how her things have been touched. Yet it's not until the end of the episode that the arrest is made. Gabi alerted the team in secret. Moreover, they had a case to work. They couldn't waste any time. They needed to find TJ. Gabi received a reprieve from arrest. She was expecting Trent to execute a search warrant at her house. That didn't occur. Instead, Sir's RV was discovered. Things were more chaotic with Heather being shot by Trent's gun that Sir stole. It's a complicated narrative. One to muddy up Trent's image to tarnish his authority in making an arrest. Sir continues to believe that everything he has done has been to Gabi's benefit. He has stalked her for two decades. He can no longer evade capture. A plan is in motion. He isn't the smartest person in the room. He is a victim of delusional thinking. Everyone is aware his ego will be his downfall. It just takes the right opportunity to strike. Even when people previously held him at gunpoint, they still needed the conviction to actually kill. That would corrupt their souls. They would be no better than the monster. Gina had an opportunity once. She sought to protect her girls. She trusted the police to capture Sir. Instead, the family had to go into hiding.

The majority of plots escalate and receive some pivotal resolution. The season has built to Gabi's arrest. Trent doesn't need to place her in handcuffs. She isn't going to run. She is ready to accept punishment. The team has done their best to deprive the police of any evidence that can be used against her. Trent is reluctant to follow through with this action. It's the inevitable outcome though. It couldn't be avoided. In fact, it provides the drama with a refreshing sense of energy. It's renewed excitement because it pulls the trigger on these developments now. The narrative still has plenty of intrigue left to mine. The characters' lives can still easily be disrupted. Gabi's house is invaded. It appears to be Christian. That isn't confirmed though. All that's left behind is a letter. He pleads his innocence. Yet a damning case is made against him. The police now view him as just as dangerous as his brother. These siblings deserve the same punishment. Sir is arrested. Christian remains a fugitive. Gabi could help him if there is something being withheld in his story. Right now, everyone just needs to approve Heather as Trent's new girlfriend. She steps into that role. She expresses her anger towards the Evans brothers. Gabi still needs to interrogate her. She carries the burden of understanding any hidden messages left behind.
Urgency still arrives in the form of the episodic mystery. Early on, Margaret discovers Gabi has a wall of all the victims she didn't save. Gabi needs that reminder. She lets her family in. They see the complicated nature of her life. They don't walk away. They embrace her completely. Of course, that sets up the expectation that the team may fail to find TJ. It's eerie foreshadowing. A boy lost in the system is found dead. It isn't TJ. He is rescued in time. The neurodivergent kid wanted to meet the older brother he never knew he had. People offered no empathy towards him. He bounced from one bad situation to the next. It resulted in a violent and distressing arrest. That led to him being placed in a group home. He has two fathers desperate to find him. The team has to mend their relationship. The secrets they have must be exposed. That's the only way to guarantee a safe and healthy future. Children have been deceived. They deserve to know the truth. It isn't always flattering. People have worked hard to earn trust. It still must be acted upon every step of the way. TJ is found because Margaret notices a detail that is simply too perfect. Her keen instincts are proven correct once more. Her vision is stellar. One woman has deluded herself into believing she is helping children. In reality, she is inflicting more trauma onto them. That's horrendous and deserves punishment. It's a simple resolution. Yet the reunion of the extended family provides another satisfying emotional catharsis.
Of course, it's immensely weird when the M&A team turns against Gabi after celebrating their latest success. The viewer is just as confused as Gabi. The reaction makes no sense. It's all a performance to lure Sir out of hiding. It reaffirms his theory of the case. The team will always reject Gabi. What she did was unforgivable. The audience knows better. So the initial moment reads false. The deceit doesn't last too long fortunately. Plus, the ultimate payoff makes it all worth it. These characters have been frustrated with themselves because of the actions they didn't take when they had the chance. Gabi doesn't blame any of them. Sir is the monster. He tried to groom Gabi like he did all those years ago as her teacher. She is smarter and more cunning now. Plus, she has a team willing to help her execute this plan. And so, everything shifts. A new status quo will emerge. That's exhilarating. Gabi and Sir's fates may appear identical. They are polar opposites. Trent is eager to enter the interrogation room with Sir. He has been waiting for this moment. The only evidence against Gabi was her initial confession. Sir may find a way to twist the facts to his benefit. Yet he isn't as invincible as he once seemed. He's vulnerable too. Control has been taken away from him. However, he may have fulfilled a promise in finding Jamie. That's the revelation that shocks Margaret. She knows to stay away from the station. She gives into temptation. That's when the reunion occurs. It may be convenient. It may satisfy the story that has occupied her mind for a long time. It's also the presentation of answers when they always seemed so daunting previously.
