AppleTV+ has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original drama series Murderbot starring Alexander Skarsgård.
The 10-episode first season will debut on Friday, May 16 with its first two episodes. New episodes will then be released weekly every Friday until the season finale on July 11.
Based on the novel by Martha Wells, the comedic thriller follows a self-hacking security construct who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients. Played by Skarsgård, Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.

Brothers Chris and Paul Weitz developed the series. They executive produce with Skarsgård, David S. Goyer, Andrew Miano and Keith Levine. Wells serves as a consulting producer. Paramount Television Studios, Depth of Field and Phantom Four produce.
