Gabi accepts that people can always surprise others with what they are capable of doing. She is never shocked by actions people take. That's especially true during moments of desperation. She advocates for her clients. She tries not to allow her personal emotions to cloud her judgment. Her struggles are ongoing. She's still in therapy processing all the anger she holds towards Sir. He refuses to accept a plea deal. He's willing to take his case to trial. Gabi can't focus on that right now. She has work to do. She can't afford to be distracted. And yet, these personal details always creep in. Sir reaches out to Trent to provide a tip. His insight doesn't seem particularly notable. He simply provides an option for the team to wade into the criminal underworld. That would provide answers more quickly. Trent isn't willing to corrupt himself in that way. He still maintains integrity. Of course, he has different standards for other people. The information Sir provides is weaponized against Trent for refusing to take it. It's meant to provoke a reaction. Trent keeps his composure. It's difficult. Every case serves as a way for Sir to work his way back into Gabi's life. Every case also sets new pressure for Gabi and the team to prove they can find the missing person without the help from a monster. They are always tempted. Sir produces results. The team does as well. Yet some mysteries continue to plague them. They can't overlook those despite the positive outcomes they obtain.

A good samaritan comes forward as witness to an abduction. In fact, multiple people try to manipulate how M&A views this case. At first, they need to be convinced that a crime actually occurred. They need more than eyewitness testimony to proceed. That's enough to get them started. It's not confirmation of anyone in danger. A watch covered in blood provides that. That's the hook that directs everyone into action. Gabi uses social media to get other witnesses to come forward. No one called 911 because they thought someone else would be responsible. That resulted in no report being produced. Gabi had to step up to trigger a search. Peter is a highly skilled paramedic. He has devoted his life to serving his community. He fostered bonds with his chosen family. His biological family members either disappointed him or died. He was cared for by a neighbor. When Roy died, Peter inherited everything. That resulted in jealousy from Roy's son, Mark. That serves as proper motivation. Mark contests the will and wants his legacy restored to him. That's not what occurs. He has an alibi. He doesn't wish to help the investigation because everything can still work in his favor. He's driven by his own interests in this case. He can't give anything to Peter after Roy gave him everything. He walks around with a chip on his shoulder. It's off-putting and suggests why Roy made his decision.

Peter is an honorable man. He uplifts the people he cares about. Their bonds are so strong that he believes he understands them to their core. Ultimately, he is surprised by what his partner Amy was willing to do. He has covered up for her mistakes on the job previously. A potentially lethal and accidental overdose can't be ignored. He needed to report her negligence. She refused to give him the chance. She and her boyfriend Owen abducted him. Wendy turns out to be Owen's mother. She came forward to protect her son. She wanted to point the investigation into incriminating Amy alone. That's all she wanted. In reality, she became an accessory to the crime. She knew it happened and didn't report it. She saw the potential of avoiding any legal responsibilities by going to Gabi. M&A presents with that protection. That doesn't actually occur. Gabi wants to position herself as trustworthy. She doesn't carry the same burdens and responsibilities as others in this world. She tries to teach Jamie. She takes him under her wing in the hopes that he will open up to her. He's slowly getting ready to detail what happened. He can't take the legal steps. He can't face his mother either. Gabi presents as another alternative. That too is tainted by expectations. Gabi will be loyal to Margaret. Jamie believes she will betray his confidence the moment he confides in her. He can't trust anyone at this moment.

The case resolves when Peter is delivered to Gabi's basement. It's an action meant to parallel Gabi's prior imprisonment of Sir. The world believes Christian was Sir's accomplice. As such, that possibility has been eliminated following his death. Gabi has never bought into that theory. However, she has someone new to pursue. She discovers cigarettes outside her home. She doesn't catch Jamie offering Peter up to her. He could reasonably be trying to impress her. He has been more fascinated in the work M&A does than anything else going on. He's obsessed with it. He wants to know how the team operates. Gabi provides some insight. She feeds into his curiosity. It's a potent tool to forge an impressionable mind. When Jamie feels betrayed, he winds up visiting Sir. That's a shocking reveal. Sir recognizes him too. Jamie seeks clarity from a monster. He is drawn to the darkness just like Gabi is. Margaret can't bear to lie to her daughter. She withholds the truth. It's painful. She wants to honor Jamie's wishes. She is running out of patience. She doesn't want to disrupt their tenuous bond. That may be unavoidable at this point. Gabi tasks Dhan with following Jamie. She was reluctant to do so previously. Now, that is completely unavoidable. These characters are committed to one another. They are family. That trust can't be broken. It's not for a lack of trying from others with their own twisted motives. That has been understood for awhile. But now, the stakes amplify with Sir's looming trial and Jamie's general unpredictability.
